Overview

If you are looking for sun, surf, sand and sensational coastal riding then this is the tour for you. 14 days and 14 nights spanning the islands of Luzon, Mindoro, Panay, Boracay and Guimaras.

Five Islands and 8 ferry crossings on an adventure of a lifetime.

Visit the world famous white-sand beaches of Boracay, Puerto Galera and Guimaras; ride the twisties of Mindoro, and the loops of Panay and Guimaras.

Take in the grandeur of the Taal Basilica (officially the Minor Basilica of Saint Martin of Tours), often considered the most impressive and largest Catholic church in the Philippines (and sometimes in Asia). Also the Miagao Church a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Simbahang Bato a semi ruin of a Spanish Colonial church still in use today.

Especially for the Led Zeppelin fans out there, we will visit the “Stairway to Heaven” at Garin Farm, Panay.

Day 1 – Orientation in Tagaytay

Pick up from Manila International Airport or your Manila Hotel and bring you up to XPLR PH HQ in scenic Tagaytay. Sitting at about 600–700 meters above sea level, Tagaytay is famous for its stunning views of Taal Volcano, one of the smallest active volcanoes in the world, located within Taal Lake.

Here you will complete the paperwork, participate in a safety briefing and get your merchandise kit. After this you will be introduced to your bikes and take a brief ride around the surrounding area to get acquainted with your new steed, then we’ll check you in to your accommodation.

The day will conclude with dinner and an early night in readiness for an early start in the morning.

From your Tagaytay accommodation we ride along the ridge of the volcanic caldera for a sumptuous breakfast overlooking Taal volcano lake. From here we will leave the province of Cavite and ride into Batangas province through the longest tunnel in the Philippines (it’s only 400m but no need to tell your mates that!).

From the Kaybiang Tunnel we will head down the coast then in east to visit the Taal Basilica where we will eat lunch.

After lunch and a wander around the Basilica we mount up and continue east to Mabini a coastal municipality in southern Batangas sitting on the Calumpan Peninsula overlooking Balayan Bay and the Verde Island Passage, an area famous for extremely rich marine biodiversity and best known as the gateway to Anilao — one of the Philippines’ most famous scuba diving destinations and after a quick loop of the peninsula our final destination for the day .

A much shorter ride today and our first ferry crossings from Batangas Port to the Port of Caticlan on the island of Mindoro.

We have the option of taking the early Fastcat Ferry and enjoying more time on Mindoro, or enjoying a relaxing breakfast and catching a later ferry.

Once on Mindoro we head north through the province of Mindoro Oriental, along fast twisty roads to wards Puerto Galera, stopping at Tamaraw Falls and a bite to eat at the Viewing Deck Hotel & Resto.

After checking-in to our accommodation we will head into town to enjoy the nightlife of Puerto Galera one of the Philippines’ best-known beach and diving destinations.

A rest day in Puerto Galera gives you the opportunity to visit the famous White Beach the most popular beach area in Puerto Galera. It is known for its wide stretch of pale sand, calm water, beach bars, restaurants, and lively atmosphere. The sand is light-colored and the water is usually calm, making it good for:

  • Swimming
  • Paddleboarding
  • Banana boats
  • Jet skis
  • Snorkeling

At night the beachfront becomes lively with:

  • Fire dancers
  • Live music
  • Beach bars
  • BBQ seafood restaurants
  • Cocktail spots

If White Beach is not your thing you can explore Sabang (the centre of PG), or stay at the accommodation to relax by the pool, or walk directly from you room into the ocean to snorkel the reef, or  sip beer in the garden and shoot some pool.

After a hearty breakfast overlooking the crystal clean ocean we will track back south, maybe stopping for a fresh buko (coconut) juice along the way.

Our first stop will be at Simbahang Bato one of the most historic and unusual churches in Oriental Mindoro. It is an old Spanish-era stone church ruin dating back to the late 1600s. The name literally means “Stone Church.”

What makes it especially distinctive is that today there is a small modern chapel built inside the ruins of the original church — often described as “a church within a church.”

The Japanese Cakes for sale outside of the church are a real treat and won’t exactly break the bank at p10.

From here we will ride to our accommodation ar Roxas via a quick stop at a motorcycle cafe for some coffee and cake.

Today is a ‘ferry’ day. A short blast down the coast from our overnight accommodation to the FastCat port at Balalacao to catch the 10am ferry over to the island of Panay, then a short coastal ride to our overnight accommodation in the province of Akan

Another lengthy scenic ride today down the west coast of Panay. For those Led Zeppelin fans we will stop to climb ‘the Stairway to Heaven’. In fact this is a popular 480-step pilgrimage attraction. It leads visitors through religious scenes to a stunning, all-white “heavenly” rooftop area, representing a journey from the earthly life to a divine, serene, and panoramic peak. At the top, a dark “Dark Meditation Tunnel” leads visitors out onto a bright, all-white, heavenly scene with sculptures of angels.

btw a golf cart ride is available for about 60 pesos for those who cannot manage the stairs.

From here we continue south traveling through the province of Antique then head east over the highlands into Iloilo province and along the coast into Iloilo City.

In the evening you can take a stroll down the esplanade and enjoy a delicious dinner at one of the numerous cafes, restaurants and bars all walking distance from your overnight accommodation.

A short ride from Downtown Iloilo City to the Lapuz RORO (roll On, Roll Off) Wharf to catch a short ferry ride over to the island of Guimaras. Once on the island we will head north then travel down the east coast and along the southern coastal road to the west of the island to complete the Guimaras Loop,   stopping for some lunch along the way. We should reach our accommodation by mid-afternoon in plenty time to relax by the pool, or take a dip in the ocean.

Today is a rest day for you to do whatever you like. A suggested itinerary for the day would be:

  • Morning:: Island hopping from Alubihod Beach (above). Walking distance from our accommodation.
  • Afternoon: Mango Research Centre and Trappist Monastery.
  • Late afternoon: Guisi Lighthouse (the 2nd oldest in the Philippines) to watch the sunset and drink a cold beer (or two)

Now it’s time to start our journey back home. We will take the short ride back to the ferry port and catch the RORO over to Iloilo, Panay. From there we will ride up the eastern coast to the very north east of the island, to our accommodation in Carles, a laid-back fishing-town, with seafood, beaches, mangroves, and boat ports serving travelers heading to the islands. Carles is also famed for its delicious and cheap scallops.

Today we head west along the top of Panay, through the province of Capiz and back into Aklan. At Caticlan we will leave the bikes in secured parking and take the short ferry ride across to Boracay (bikes not allowed).

Once on Boracay we will take some local transport to our accommodation.

Boracay is one of the Philippines’ most famous beach destinations, known worldwide for its powdery white sand, turquoise water, sunsets, nightlife, and water activities.

The island is only about 7 km long, but it packs in beaches, resorts, restaurants, bars, live music, diving spots, and water sports.

Tonight we head into Station 2 to enjoy dinner and maybe a cold beer listening to a live band.

There is something for everyone on your. rest day in Boracay.

Whether you choose to visit:

White Beach

This 4-km stretch of incredibly fine white sand is divided into three sections called Stations:

  • Station 1 — quieter, wider beachfront, upscale resorts

White Beach is especially famous for:

  • calm shallow water,
  • spectacular sunsets,
  • beachfront dining,
  • and evening fire dancers.

Puka Beach

A quieter beach on the northern side of the island with coarser sand and fewer crowds.

Bulabog Beach

Bulabog Beach
Known for:

  • kiteboarding,
  • windsurfing,
  • and stronger winds during certain seasons.

Mount Luho

Mount Luho
The island’s highest point, offering panoramic views.

Activities

Popular things to do include:

  • island hopping,
  • snorkeling,
  • scuba diving,

Boracay is also known for excellent diving, with reefs, shipwrecks, and marine life around nearby islands.

A short ferry ride back to Caticlan to be reunited with our bikes, then a longer ferry ride back to Mindoro to continue our Mindoro Loop.

Once docked in Mindoro we will head west to our overnight accommodation on the water at San Jose, in the province of Mindoro Occidental.

Time to go ‘home; an early start will see us head up the west coast of Mindoro passing kilometer and kilometer of onions stacked by the side of the road. The road is smooth, fast, twisty in places. and very scenic. Our aim is to arrive at the port of Abra De Ilog (184km) in time to catch the 11:30 ferry back to Batangas, Luzon.

From Batangas we will take mostly expressway straight into the heart of Manila where we will drop off the bikes, pick up any excess luggage and head to our final night’s accommodation.

After checking-in to our city accommodation we will partake in a few well-earned cold beers at Handlebar Bar & Grill, the famous biker’s hangout in Makati.
