Embark on the ultimate loop of northern Luzon. Our 14 day, 1,900km bike tour visits Baler, the birthplace of surfing in the Philippines, before winding your way through the Sierra Madre to the northern tip of Luzon. Heading back south you visit the historic city of Vigan before heading back into the mountains to Sagada and Baguio. From there you head back to sea level and call at the Hundred Islands National Park, before traveling back to Manila via the volcanic landscape of Zambales.
Pick up from Manila International Airport or your Manila Hotel and bring you up to XPLR PH HQ in scenic Tagaytay. Sitting at about 600–700 meters above sea level, Tagaytay is famous for its stunning views of Taal Volcano, one of the smallest active volcanoes in the world, located within Taal Lake.
Here you will complete the paperwork, participate in a safety briefing and get your merchandise kit. After this you will be introduced to your bikes and take a brief ride around the surrounding area to get acquainted with your new steed, then we’ll check you in to your accommodation.
The day will conclude with dinner and an early night in readiness for an early start in the morning.
From your Tagaytay accommodation you ride down to Taal Lake taking-in the incredible views of the Taal volcano. You will join the southern expressway and take the Skyway over the top of Manila onto the northern expressway, joining the eastern expressway towards Baler, the capital of Aurora Province and birthplace of surfing in the Philippines.
Approx two-thirds of today’s journey is via expressways, giving you ample time to get thoroughly acquainted with your bike.
You can have frequent coffee breaks on the expressway and stop for lunch or Miranda (afternoon tea) at Ikigai – Overlooking Pantabangan Lake.
On arrival at Baler you will check-in to your accommodation then should head to “Yellowfin” for dinner.
A much shorter ride today gives you the opportunity for a bit of sightseeing. First port of call should be coffee at “GayUma” then a short ride to chill-out and enjoy fresh buko (coconut) juice at the exquisite, pristine Dicasalarin Cove.
Continuing your tour, you ride northeast along the coast before turning north to ride into the Sierra Madre mountain range, home to the Aeta people, one of the oldest indigenous groups in the Philippines. After stopping to say hello to the locals you ride on to Santiago in Isabella province, where we will spend the night.
Today you head north to the most northerly point of mainland Luzon. Aparri was one of the earliest Spanish settlements in northern Luzon and played a key role in the Galleon Trade. Japanese occupation forces landed in Aparri in 1941. The area has a mix of Ibanag, Ilocano, and Spanish cultural influences.
You will spend the night at “Hotel Dian Aparri”, a must-stop for “Philippine Loop” adventure riders.
A free day in Aparri gives you the opportunity to either chill-out by the pool (with a cold beer or two), or explore the surrounding area.
Maybe take a 2 hour ride east to visit the beautiful beaches of the Santa Ana region, or take a boat trip to Fuga Island, or simply wander around the fishing port.
The shortest leg of the tour but one of the most spectacular. You will travel the Patapat Viaduct where the mountains meet the sea, before arriving at the beautiful, pristine beaches of Pagudpud with plenty of time to relax and unwind over a fresh beachside dinner and refreshing drinks.
After an early breakfast and a dip in the sea you will head south from the province of Ilocos Norte to Ilocos Sur. Your first stop will be a visit to the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse, one of the last colonial Spanish lighthouses of its kind. Then on to the World Heritage listed Paoay Church, constructed between 1694 and 1710, and is famed for being a prime example of “Earthquake Baroque” architecture — a style that adapts Baroque elements to the seismic conditions in the Philippines. Here you can have lunch before heading south to the UNESCO World Heritage historic city of Vigan. Oncel settled into your accommodation you can exploring the cobbled streets of this beautiful town.
Dinner should be taken at the majestic Calle Crisologo, a short but famous cobbled street lined with preserved Spanish-era mansions, antique shops, and horse-drawn carriages (kalesas)
Today you continue south for a while before turning east to climb up into the mountains, stopping at the Quirino Skyline View Deck to wonder at the spectacular view. Once rested you will continue to tackle the never-ending twisties until you reach Sagada your destination for two nights.
Here you have a free day to allow you to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Banaue Rice Terraces, or the world famous Hanging Coffins, or visit Apo Whang‑Od, the country’s most renowned traditional tattoo artist (mambabatok), born in 1917 and still practicing into her 100s, or any of the other local attractions and activities.
On paper this looks like a short ride, but when you factor-in the endless twisties and numerous photo opportunities, the journey will take the whole day.
You can have lunch at the “Happy House Cafe & Home Stay”, Sinto Bauko Mt. Province before stopping at the 2nd highest point on the Philippine Highway System.
Then on to Baguio, the Summer Capital of the Philippines, so called because of its cool climate, pine-covered hills, vibrant arts scene, and rich colonial history.
You travel out of Baguio down the spectacular Kennon Road before visiting Stephen at the “The Red Baron Bar & Vintage Motorbike” establishment for lunch.
Then it’s a short ride to check-in to your accommodation in Alaminos, the gateway to the majestic Hundred Islands National Park. Dinner can be taken overlooking the waters of the Hundred Islands.
The Hundred Islands National Park is a famous island-hopping and eco-tourism destination. It consists of 124 islands at low tide and 123 at high tide, spread across 1,844 hectares in the Lingayen Gulf.
You can take a local boat (bangka) and enjoy a full day exploring the largely deserted islands, or ride northwest to explore Bolinao and the island of Anda
Today you head down the northwest coast of Luzon, through the province of Zambales, over volcanic lahars, maybe stopping at a roadside bamboo cafe such as Kopi Kubo, or a local fruit vendor to enjoy some fresh mango, coconut or rambutan.
Lunch can be taken on the river at “The Deck” and then on to your beachside accommodation for the last night in paradise before you return to the big city.
Time to go ‘home, but not before stopping in Subic Freeport (the ex-US Navy Base) for some lunch by the water. Then you pick-up the expressway and head south to finish your tour in Manila.
After checking-in to your city accommodation we will accompany you to Handlebar Bar & Grill, the famous biker’s hangout in Makati, to partake in a few well-earned cold beers.

Select the number of Riders and Pillions by using the ‘+’ button at the side of each.
Select the type of accommodation. “Shared Room” means you will share your room with one or more person(s), whilst “Single Room” means you will have your own private room.
Now select the preferred tour start date from the calendar.
The total price for number of riders & pillions is now displayed in the currency corresponding to your location.
Click the “Make a Booking” button to add the tour to your cart.
The full booking fee will now appear in your cart.
Continue making any other bookings until you are ready to ‘Checkout”

Enter your billing information then click “Request Confirmation”
You will NOT be charged any fee at this time. Your tour booking dates will be reserved and you will receive an email confirming this.
You will also receive an email invitation to complete a Google Form. This must be completed by each member of the touring party before we can move on to Step 8.
Once we have received all completed Google Forms we will send you an email with the bank transfer details.
You have the option of paying a 20% deposit, or paying in full. The balance of your payment minus the deposit is fully refundable up to 30 days prior to the tour start date.
